Horseradish Plant Horseradish Plant

A great fiery vinegar for use in cooking.


  • 8oz grated horseradish
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 litres vinegar

Making Horseradish Vinegar

  1. Mix the horseradish, shallot, salt and cayenne pepper together in a bowl.
  2. Bring the vinegar to the boil and pour it over the mixture.
  3. Cover the mixture and allow to stand, stirring daily for a week.
  4. Strain through a sieve into a saucepan.
  5. Bring to the boil again, then allow to cool slightly before pouring into warm clean bottles
